I had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day with my
family. Debra cooked the best meal ever. I am
still eating leftovers that she packaged for me
in Tupperware! But they are about gone! Lauren
even chipped in with some Oreo Balls! They were
good too! Debra is a great cook and she really
outdid herself this time. Hopefully she will be
challenged to top the Thanksgiving Meal in a few
weeks when we get together for Christmas.

Let me tell you a little of what's been going on
with me. Some of you saw the picture of me in
the miscellaneous pictures, laying on the table
in physical therapy. I have had several emails
asking why I was going to physical therapy.
Several months ago, after helping my best friend
move, and then moving myself, I began to have
some back pain. So I went to the chiropractor
and got some relief. Soon after that I began to
have some trouble with my voice. I was losing
control in my midrange. After several weeks of
worry, I went to a voice specialist at
Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Dr.
Cleveland, a wonderful man, assured me there was
nothing wrong with my vocal cords, but I did
have a muscle in my neck that was in constant
spasm and he said I needed some therapy to get
that muscle to relax. That muscle lays up
against my voice box and that's what the vocal
problem was. And he said the reason it was
spasming was because of the lower back problem.
He said it was all hooked together So for the
past 4-5 weeks, I have been going to physical
therapy twice a week for ultrasound on my neck.
In the midst of all of this, I developed acute
tendonitis so while I am there, I get therapy on
my arm too.
Thanksgiving day, my lower back REALLY began to
hurt. I began to have pain all the way down my
right hip, down into the lower leg. I finally
got an appt with my medical doctor today and we
did some X-rays, and it showed that I have some
major problems in my lower back. In 1986, I had
a car accident ( I hit a full grown cow, knocked
her 175 feet, flipped my truck up into a bank,
and landed going the opposite direction- it was
a moooving experience!) Soon after that, I began
having lower back pain, and in 1987 I was
diagnosed with degenerative disc, he doctor told
me that eventually the lower ones would crumble
away and I would have to have surgery.
Well....the X-rays today showed that the lowest
one, L5, has been disappearing over the last
several years, and now there is very little of
the L5 left. So for the last few days I have
been laying flat on my back on ice packs, trying
to eliminate the pain. Today I got a
subscription for some pain pills so that I can
make the trip to
Texas and Florida. When I get home from
Florida, I will have an MRI done to see exactly
what is going on.
So please pray for me as I make this trip to
Texas and Florida. I will be heavily
sedated!
