Deep in the Heart of Texas

Hello Krew,
I've heard that phrase, Deep In the Heart of
Texas, all my life, but never knew where the
"Heart of Texas" was. I still don't know. I do
know there are some great people and some great
places in the state of Texas but "where the
heart is" is beyond me. (I know I will hear from
every Krew member from Texas telling me the
answer!)
The Hoppers used to sing a song that said "If
you want to see the Heart of God, just look at
Calvary" which was a wonderful song. But in the
matter of Texas, I don't know if the "heart"
would be places of History, where battles were
fought, where independence was won, where brave
men gave their lives on the battle field, or
whether it would be some of the metropolitan
areas that have grown so fast, as if the ground
its self turned upside down to reveal
skyscrapers and progressive cities filled to the
brim of interstates, highrises, and freeways to
progress. Nonetheless, Texas has a lot of heart
and I enjoyed being in two great places this
past weekend.
Oct 14, this past Saturday night, once again I
sang at Will Rogers Auditorium in Ft. Worth.
Jeanne Smith decided sometime ago to try her
hand at promoting concerts and she invited me to
come be on her first promotion. Along with the
Shiloh Quartet, and Austin's Bridge, we had a
great time and had a great variety of Music.
Jeanne had a great buffet back stage and had
gone to a lot of extra expense to make the night
really nice for the artists. The stage was
decorated in Autumn Texas stuff. There were
three big pumpkins adorned with cowboy hats and
painted smiley faces. We called those three
Greater Vision. All the artists signed a guitar
and it was given away as a door prize. Over
three hundred people were there to hear some
great gospel music. I think that's a great start
for a new concert series and for Jeanie's first
promotion. She's excited and ready for her next
one, which will be in December. It will be a
Christmas Dinner Concert with Dixie Melody Boys
and myself. I sure hope all the Krew members in
this "heart" of Texas town, will come out and
celebrate with us on December 2. More info on

I am amazed at how the Krew members ordered the
Snowman Love Lamp. As of this writing, we have
ONE left at the office. I tried to get more but
the warehouse was out. BUT, they did send me
another Christmas lamp that's quite cute
so.......you guessed it......I don't turn down a

beautiful Holly/Redbird shade and a glass

think it will look great on your Christmas

Last week, I mentioned the US Gospel News
publication and gave you the info that I had
been given. This week, it seems there are some
changes to the process there, so if you
subscribed to the paper, and you want to
continue getting the US Gospel News, call
870-802-0414. I think the US Gospel News will
revamp and continue to publish a quality paper
so actually you might not have to call. Just be
patient with them and see what they decide.
Well, I am looking forward to going to
Blountstown, Florida this weekend for "GOAT
DAY". Ok, now that you are wondering "WHAT IS
GOAT DAY", let me just say, "I have no idea" but
I am sure it won't be Baaaaaaaaad. And if your
name is Billy or Nanny I know you'll be
especially welcome!

Well, I got to get out of here! I am losing my

Saturday night Nov. 4th or Sunday night, Nov

sing in on November 12.
