Hello Krew

I spotted the Quizno's. I was happy to see it as I hadn't noticed it before, but i rarely go to concourse A in Cincinnati airport. I had just enough time to grab a sandwich before my next flight. So I ordered my regular, Chicken Carbonaro Sandwich on rosemary parmesean bread. Oh man, its wonderful! I got my bottle of water and sat down on the the barstool and looked out into the airport. Travelers everywhere, rushing to meet schedules, holding cell phones up to their ear, yelling "come on" to children who wanted to lag behind, huffing and puffing, business men walking and reading work reports or newspapers, everyone heading to a destination. Yet in front of me, a lesson to be learned.

Many airports now use "people movers" as a way of getting passengers to their gate quicker. A people mover is kinda like a flat escalator that allows travelers to either stand and be taken further on their journey, or walk, allowing the traveler to get further at a much quicker (than walking) pace. As I sat eating my sandwich, I watched people riding the people mover. Just beyond the people movers were the display screens that announced departing and arriving gates. I was watching people try to read the screens as they rode the people movers. It was funny to see them trying to find their departing gate as they were whisked by. One man evidently couldn't find his departing city so he started to walk backwards in order to stay right in front of the screen. I have tried to go the wrong way on an escalator so I know the difficulty he was experiencing. I could tell he was frustrated, fighting with his roll along bag and dodging other people on the people mover. Several looked quite disgusted with him! It took him forever to find his city on the screen. About the time I could tell that he had found it, three women approached on the people mover. They weren't about to budge to allow him to continue to read them. This poor man tried to get out of their way, but he fell backwards and almost took the ladies down with him! I had to laugh. But it was a great lesson to me. Yes, sometimes it's necessary to go backwards to find out where we are headed! Don't I know it! I had to ask the Lord for more patience that morning.

I was headed to Texas for two days of concerts. Saturday night I had a great time in Henderson Texas. Laverne and Glenda Grant sponsored the concert and the Southern Harmony Boys did a great job. It was easy to sing and share and I appreciate the Holy Spirit for blessing me that evening. I think most of the people were touched in a very special way that evening. It was great to see so many Kirk's Krew members at the concert. One man brought his dog, "General" wore a Kirk's Krew shirt! Special thanks to Laverne and Glenda for making the night possible. Sunday Morning and evening, I sang in Malakoff Texas at the First Baptist Church. Tim Samples was the Minister of Music that booked me there. He was very kind and very appreciative. He's a good egg! Pastor Webb was a fireball. Man, I have never seen anyone as "up" and full of life as he was. After lunch we went to Bubba Jeans for some good catfish. Yes, it's called Bubba Jeans. It's great country eatin in the heart of Malakoff. If you are passin through, you should check it out! Since I wasn't staying in Malakoff Sunday night, I went to Walmart after lunch, I ran into several people from the concert, so we sat down in Walmart and played Rummy! What a great way to pass an afternoon when you are all dressed up in your suit and tie!
