An Unexpected Blessing

Hello Krew.

A very special welcome to new members who have subscribed in recent weeks. This newsletter is basically a weekly "what's been going on" kind of report. I appreciate the interest and hope that you enjoy the ramblings!

This past weekend I was in Ohio. I sang in Greenfield, Ohio at the Good Shepherd Brethren Church on Sunday night. Lanny Bryant welcomed me to the church and we had a very good service. It was great to see some old friends that I hadn't seen in a while.

Gil Conley, a promoter of Gospel concerts in the central Ohio area, was there early, and it was great to see him. He has been a long time friend of mine since I was 15.

It was also great to see family members of Mary Jane Carter, of the Pfeifers. Mary Jane was on the road, singing with the Pfeifers, so she sent her parents and some cousins. Mary Jane's mom came with the best apple pie, I have ever eaten! I was told that at a recent charity auction her apple pie brought $100.00. Now that's some good pie!

I went to Greenfield early to play for the wedding of Dusty Barrett. Dusty is the tenor with the group Crystal River (my next door neighbors) When he asked me to play for the wedding, I laughed. Most of you know that I only play in about three keys. I told him I would if the keyboard had a transpose button! Sure enough it had a transpose button and so I did great key changes and arrangements, and the audience never knew the difference. I only play decently in the key of F. I played for thirty minutes in every key there is, but my hands never left the F!

Weddings are always quiet and emotional. I watched as the bridesmaids sniffled and cried. I watched the sister of the bride sob, I watched the audience wipe tears and re do make up. I was sitting on the platform so I got a close up view of what was happening. As the preacher spoke, I looked at the couple getting married. Dusty was facing me, the bride's back to me. They were facing each other, listening intently to what the preacher was saying. All of a sudden I saw Dusty mouth the words to Alyisa, "you are so beautiful." I probably was the only person that could tell what he was saying. I wasn't expecting that. It was a blessing to me, something out of the ordinary, something out of the realm of my expectation. It was great. I suddenly heard God say to me "Surprise." I thought I was going to cry. I bowed my head and thanked the Lord for being gracious to me, for loving me, for caring for me, for making me feel special to him again. Thank God for the unexpected blessings!

Thank you for ordering the new CD and DVD. I have kept Dot busy in the office and I sure appreciate your support. I am getting so many good comments about the project. Check them out on the comment section on the webpage. If you haven't gotten your order in, you are missing a real blessing. I hope every Krew member will order the CD and DVD. Its available in the store on the website or you can call the office at 865 933 2100.

This week I will be in Birmingham, AL, Goshen, IN and Napoleon, OH. Thursday night I will be at Eastside Baptist Church in Birmingham, a night with Kirk Talley. I will have plenty of time to sing and do your requests. I will also be live on the radio with Wayne Wallace, WDJC from 2-4 pm that day. If you are in the area, tune in. Then head over to the concert that night. I am excited about it!

Saturday night I will be in Goshen, IN at Peddlers Village. This is a Trio date. Anthony Burger and Shane Dunlap will join me and we always have a blast, so if you can make it to that concert, I think you will love it.

IMPORTANT-If I am in your area, I would really appreciate it if you could call at least 5 people and tell them about the concert. Many Gospel Music fans don't have Internet and that's my only form of advertisement, of if you could help me by spreading the word, I would appreciate it. Also if you listen to a Gospel Station contact them and ask if they would play new music by me. If they will, send me their info and I will get them a new CD in the mail. Then call them and keep requesting songs from the Live project.

Be sure to watch Unfolding Majesty on TBN. I should be on for the next several weeks and will be singing some of the new songs. The program airs Tuesday evenings at 7:30 PM Eastern and Thursday mornings at 11:30 AM Eastern.

Don't forget the Trio concert in Maryville, TN on the 20th of this month. It's gonna be great! I have confirmed a Surprise special guest. Can't tell you who it is yet, but you will know. Also I am working on another surprise guest. Both are very well known and it's sure to be a great night.

Thanks for your support and love. Kapt Kirk
