Hello Krew
It's a beautiful day here in East Tennessee. I
am in the office today, opening mail.
Thank you for all the Birthday wishes and nice
gestures that
were sent. I never thought getting old could be
so much fun... or
fattening! I got all kinds of goodies thru the
mail. Cheesecake from the
Cheesecake factory, Skyline Chili, Peanuts,
Snowballs (Yes), Cotton Balls,
Gumballs, Chocolate Mall Balls, Tennis Balls, a
baseball, Coconut Balls,
Coupons from Cracker Barrel, O'Charleys, Red
Lobster, McDonalds, Up the
Creek, Shell, two shirts, a tie, Balloons, a
manicure set, After shave (I
will smell good as I get fat) and some cash (I
will buy dextrin).
I had a great time in NC last weekend. I sang
with the Hoppers and Sons of
Thunder on Friday night in King, NC. It was a
concert to benefit the Hope
Pregnancy Center. It was a great evening of
music, and fun. The Hoppers
were the best I have ever heard them. The Sons
of Thunder were new to me
but they were great. There are some great
pictures on the webpage of the
evening.
Saturday evening I sang in Statesville, NC at
Front Street Baptist Church as
a part of their Celebrate Recovery Outreach. It
was great seeing some
friends that I haven't seen in a while. Sunday
Morning, I was back in the
Winston Salem area at Red Bank Baptist Church.
It's always great to be in
NC. I have some great friends there and of
course it was good to pull
through a Wendy's and order the Carolina Classic
again! (I had three
during the weekend) Speaking of the Winston
Salem area......If you are in
that area and you want to hear me on the radio,
go to
Online Southern gospel Radio Station - Live365
Internet Radio - SG Radio
Network . Charles Brady is not afraid to play me
on his station. Thanks
Charles.
Charles also has some online awards going too.

The day before I left for NC, I had to evict a
renter who decided he should
get to live free. In the course of moving his
sorry butt out, I had a gas
can in the back of my SUV. On the way home, that
gas can tipped over and
before I could pull over and get it, quite a bit
of gasoline had spilled out
into the floorboard. Naturally the smell of
gasoline was very strong. I
rode to NC with the windows down hoping to "air
it out" but I wasn't so
lucky. So in King, NC, I asked a few people how
to get the smell of
gasoline out of my upholstery. Robyn Bouch told
me to slice a potato and
lay it in pure vanilla extract and it would
absorb the odor. So after the
concert, I stopped by a grocery store just as
they were closing and bought a
potato, vanilla extract, a knife, and a bowl. I
still was dressed in my suit and tie so when the
went to the checkout line,
I got a funny look from the girl. I went back to
the hotel and as I sat in
the parking lot, I unwrapped the knife, sliced
the potato, poured the
vanilla extract into the bowl and added the
potato. As I sat there
preparing all of this, I looked around to see if
anyone was watching me. I
had to start laughing because if I had seen
someone slicing a single potato
in a parked car, putting it in a bowl of vanilla
extract.....I would have
wondered just what kind of nut this was! So I
placed the bowl in the
floorboard, sprayed some Fabreeze and left it.
The next morning I went out
and found that nearly all the gasoline smell was
gone! The next night after
I sang in Statesville, I decided to try it one
more time,
so here I go back to the grocery store. Again I
was still in my suit and
tie. When I went to the check out counter, the
same girl who waited on me
the night before checked me out again. This time
she questioned what I was
doing with yet another potato and another bottle
of vanilla extract. I just
laughed and said "It's a little home remedy for
gas."
In the last newsletter, I announced the Cruise
to Cozumel and The Grand
Cayman. Response has been great so far. Already
have several people signed
up to go with us. Shane Dunlap will be joining
me on that cruise also.
Hopefully there will be a few others added soon.
This cruise will be a lot
of fun. Once again the dates are Feb 26- March
3, 2007. We will cruise on
the SS Inspiration out of Tampa FL. It's a five
night cruise, leaving Tampa
on Monday, returning on Saturday with port calls
in Cozumel and Grand
Cayman. The price for an inside cabin is $653.35
per person and the price
for an outside cabin is $723.35 per person, both
prices based on double
occupancy. This price includes all your port
taxes, meals (and trust
me---these aren't burger meals) and all onboard
entertainment and games, plus 4 nights of
concerts by myself, Shane Dunlap
and possibly others. The price does not include
your tips or transportation
to the port. There are handicapped rooms
available (Call Dot at the office
for more info on those). We are holding a small
amount of rooms. They are
first come, first served. To reserve a room,
call the office at 865 933
2100. This not a "Christian Charter". We will
eat together in the dining
room, we will have our own meeting room for the
concerts, but there will be
other people on the ship who are not in our
group. So that means that the
Bars and the Casino's will be open.
I hope a lot of Krew members will go with us and
make this a KREWSE!!!!
Call the office if you have any questions.
THANKS again for ordering the special from last
week. Three CD's for $20.00
plus $5.00 shipping.

Please keep my Mom in your prayers, Also please
pray hard for the sale of
the Autolube. We have an offer contingent on the
rezoning but there is
major opposition of that rezoning so please pray
that next month, the
Planning Commission will side in our favor and
they will allow the property
to be rezoned and changed to accommodate the
prospective buyer.
