The weekend started
great.........and ended great!
I flew into Little Rock and headed
to Texarkana. On Interstate 30, I
saw a big billboard that said "All
you can eat, Catfish". Well I love
me some catfish! So when I got to
the exit, I turned in and found the
best buffet I have seen in a long
time. Fried Catfish fillets, Fried
Catfish Steaks, Fried Chicken, Fried
Chicken Planks, Fried Shrimp, Fried
Frog Legs, Fried Chicken Livers,
Hush Puppies (fried), Deep fried
Corn Nuggets, Fried Green Tomatoes,
Fried Okra, Fried Potatoes, Fried
Pickles, Fried Apple Fritters, Fried
Cabbage, Fried Zucchini, French
fries, Fried Onion Rings, Green
Beans (not fried), Sweet Potato
Casserole, Banana Pudding, Peach and
Cherry Cobbler. I ate until I
couldn't eat any more. I was so
stuffed, I barely made it to the
cash register to pay for my
feast!FRIED, Battered to a Golden
Crisp, Cholesterol with a crunch! I
could hear my veins tightening up as
soon as I started. The waitress kept
coming by to say "Jest Hep Yeself"
She was kinda "fried" too. She was
definitely "battered and painted".
Guess it was just the place to find
"battered and buttered".
I finally made it to my car, gasped
for a good breath and took off to
Queen City Texas for a benefit
concert at the local Middle School.
It was great to see Charles Lawrence
from Atlanta Texas. He put the
entire night together to benefit a
young mother of two who is battling
Cancer. It was great to see Gerald
Williams of the Melody Boys, one of
the best bass singers in Gospel
Music. Also great to see Carolyn and
PPPAAAATTTTSSSSYYYY Hibbard from
Texarkana. Cliff
and Valerie Gramm came down from
Tulsa to help me and it's always fun
to see them.
Cliff and Valerie went with me to
Little Rock (Sherwood) so on
Saturday I was telling them about
the
"all you can eat Catfish place. Yep,
you guessed it, we hit it again. The
lady at the front door,
remembered me from the day before,
and said I guess you liked it". I
just laughed and said "sure did, so
I brought reinforcements". Cliff and
Valerie loved it too.
Saturday night and Sunday, I
sang with Joyce Martin in Sherwood
AR. A great congregation of people,
great services, and wonderful
fellowship. Joyce is one of the best
female singers there is anywhere. I
loved hearing her songs and her
testimony. Pastor Dugan was so nice
to us and on Sunday, he invited us
to his house for Sunday Lunch! I had
the best Chicken and Dumplings that
I have ever had. I wanted so bad to
stay the entire afternoon and
continue to eat those but I had a
plane to catch. No, I didn't go back
by the Catfish House!
