Hello Krew
I wanted to give you my weekly report of travels. This past Saturday night, I sang in Philadelphia, Mississippi. WFCA radio station promoted the concert at the coliseum and it was a great evening. The Hoppers and Promised Quartet were on the program. We had over 1000 people and it was great to see a lot of friends from that area of the country. The Hoppers were their usual "wonderful" singing lots their new songs from their new album, "The Ride". Of course, after intermission, we did a few things together. Dean and Kim joined me on "He Is Here" and then the three of us did "What A Lovely Name" together. The crowd seemed to love the interaction between us. Fun is contagious and when we were having fun, naturally they were having fun too. A special thank you to WFCA radio station, Chuck and all the gang were so nice! They provided a chicken dinner along with slaw, potatoes and red beans and rice!

Last week I told you I was planning a great weekend for the weekend of April 21st. Here is what we have worked out.

April 21st 11 am- Concert featuring Kirk Talley, Crist Family, Mike Bowling Group and Gospel Enforcers
4 pm-We will car pool and drive 90 miles west to Crossville Tenn to the Cumberland Mountain State Park to enjoy a wonderful dinner buffet. With the time change between Eastern and Central Standard time, we should arrive there between 4:30 and 5:00 pm (Central Standard time). We will have ample time to eat and laugh and enjoy a lot of fellowship before going on to the Cumberland County Playhouse for the World Premier Production of "Smoke On the Mountain-Homecoming at 7:30 pm. This is a hilarious production featuring The Sanders Family, the setting is the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church just after the Great War in 1946. The audience actually becomes the church congregation, we even sing along with the Sanders Family as they comically entertain us with their shenanigans.

Sunday Morning, the 22nd of April, at 10:30 am, we will visit New Hope Church of God in Sevierville TN. This is a beautiful theatre, formerly the Lee Greenwood Theatre. We will sit as a group and hear some wonderful music and Pastor Tom Sterbans. He is an amazing speaker. I have visited there several times and am always blessed with what he has to share.

Immediately after the Sunday Morning Worship Service, we will continue toward Sevierville a few miles and have lunch at Tony Gore's Pig Palace. Now that's not the actual name of it, but that's what I call it! Tony is a wonderful cook. He has the best ribs and all kinds of fixin's. (Fixin is a southern word which means "all kinds of extras") This will be a fun time. I will be waiting tables and helping them feed all of our group. I know you will enjoy the menu there! The Fried Pickles are unbelievable. The Ribs are tops (Tony smokes them himself) The Baked BBQ potato, and the BBQ Nachos are amazing! Even the Pig Wings are wonderful. I Know, I know, Pigs don't have wings.....but at the Pig Palace, you will find all kinds of things you haven't tried before. Like the most incredible Baked Beans with BBQ in them, and like the Carmel Apple Pie! Tony also makes a mean Banana Pudding.

Additional Information on each planned stop:

The concert on Saturday is Free to the Public. No offering will be taken. David Hayes, the owner of David's Carpets does this once a year as an appreciation concert for his customers. The concert takes place in the parking lot of David's Carpets under a big tent. The address is 8204 Asheville Highway, Knoxville Tenn

The Dinner Buffet at Cumberland State Park will be charged individually. I am not sure what the cost of the buffet is, but I think it's between 10 and 15 dollars per person. It might not even be that much. But it's the best buffet type restaurant I have ever eaten and the State Park Scenery is beautiful.

The Smoke On the Mountain Production is $20.00 each since we were able to get a group rate. We have reserved 50 tickets in the first three rows for the Production. The first 50 people who respond will be seated in that section. After the 50, tickets are still available but won't be with the first 50 ticket holders. So it's very important to make your plans immediately and Call Dot at the office to reserve your tickets to the play with a credit card. 865-933-2100

The Morning Worship Service at New Hope Church Of God will of course not cost you anything, but of course, they will pass an offering plate!

The lunch at Tony Gore's Pig Palace (where the butts (a butt of BBQ) are big and the sauce is sweet) will be at your own expense of course. And I might add that EVERYTHING is worth the price there! After lunch, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the Smokies, possibly the outlets, or even more eating! ( I doubt that) But some of the men can nap in the car while the ladies visit the outlet stores in Pigeon Forge!
